An Honours graduate in printed textile design from Manchester in 1985, Maryann Ryves was awarded a travel bursary from the Royal Society of Arts and exhibited her textile designs throughout the U.K. the following year.


She worked as a freelance textile designer exhibiting in Paris, Frankfurt and New York and selling to companies such as Sanderson, Next Interiors, Coloroll, Textra, Dovedale, Blydenstein-Willink in the Netherlands and Charles Sammelson in the U.S.A.  She also worked on site in the design studio for John Lewis on a regular basis.

She was commissioned to design a collection of rugs which were exhibited at Liberty’s, London.


Maryann Ryves turned her attention to painting with a shared exhibition of watercolours in Fulham, London. She had paintings permanently on display at the Francis Iles Gallery in Rochester and has exhibited in the Stable Gallery, Clapham, the Chelsea Open Exhibition and was short-listed for the Royal Academy Summer exhibition in 1990.

She exhibited at Pembroke Lodge , Richmond park, Surrey in June 2000.


Since moving to Scotland she has shown work at Pittenweem Arts Festival, The Birnam Institute and had solo shows at the Locus Centre, Aberfeldy.

She now exhibits regularly at Gallery heinzel, Aberdeen, the Strathearn Gallery, Crieff, The Quay Gallery, Aberdour,  Frames Gallery in Perth and the Aberfeldy Gallery. More recently she has become a regular exhibitor at Morningside Gallery, Edinburgh,  The Laurel Gallery in Stockbridge and Stirling Art, Stirling.

She has a permanent exhibition at the Courtyard Restaurant, Kenmore and every year takes part in the Fortingall Art exhibition in July and the Perthshire Open Studios in September.

2011     May exhibited at the Di Rollo Gallery, Edinburgh

         Produced giclee prints for houses in the Mains of TaymoutH           KENMORE.    

2013   March exhibited at the Q Gallery, Dundee

         April solo exhibition at the Birnam Institute

2015   Solo show in Aberfeldy town square at Easter

2017   Short-listed for SWA, Mall Galleries, London,
